The International Maritime Organization (IMO) last Friday elected the States that will become part of the three categories that make up the Organization’s Council.
In the voting, Italy, which was reconfirmed in category A, which includes the ten States with the greatest interest in providing international maritime transport services, was also the country that, alongside China, obtained the highest number of votes, 155.
“This result underscores the centrality of our country in the maritime industry, in international maritime cooperation, in navigation safety, and in the protection of the marine environment,” stated the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi.
“The IMO, a key executive body for the management of global maritime policies, continues to see Italy as a protagonist, alongside countries such as the USA, the UK, Japan, and Greece. The reconfirmation strengthens our country’s role as a leader in promoting the blue economy,” concluded Rixi.
