The consolidation works of the Riva quay in the Port of Ortona, initiated by the Central Adriatic Port Authority, were completed 99 days ahead of schedule.

The project, executed by Fincantieri Infrastructure Opere Marittime Spa, Impresa Costruzioni Mentucci Aldo Srl, Seacon and Acale, aimed at the completion of the first section of the site and its platform with a length of 230 meters, out of a total of 560 meters, and a width of 30 meters.

The contract, with a total award value of €8,574,000, was financed with funds for territorial cohesion and for the Special Economic Zones of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) of the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.

The work included the remodeling and improvement of the existing quay structures to adapt their functionality to the standards of modern commercial maritime traffic. This was followed by the deepening of the seabed of the port to a depth of 12 meters, adapting it to current needs. Part of the project also included the electrification of the mobile cranes in the worked section of the quay.

“Our main task is to prepare and modernize the quays and shipyards, as well as to carry out the necessary dredging to facilitate operations in the ports under our jurisdiction,” stated Vincenzo Garofalo, president of the Central Adriatic Sea Port Authority.

“Being able to achieve these objectives ahead of schedule, thanks to the commitment of the contractors and the coordination of our technicians, confirms to us that we are fulfilling our task and that we can drive new development opportunities for the Port of Ortona,” Garofalo noted.
