CSSC Jiangnan Shipyard held the signing, naming, and delivery ceremony for the “CMA CGM BERENICE” on June 24, marking the fifth vessel in the “Kun” series of large methanol-dual-fuel container ships built for CMA CGM.
This series of 15,000-TEU methanol-powered dual-fuel container ships is part of the “KUN” series of large container ships (“KUN-15M”) independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard. With a total length of 366 meters, this vessel is yet another new, highly efficient, eco-friendly, and energy-saving ultra-large container ship model independently developed by the company based on its flagship ship design.
At the same time, this series of vessels employs methanol dual-fuel propulsion, which not only serves as a tangible demonstration of China’s shipbuilding industry’s enhanced global core competitiveness but also aligns comprehensively with multiple national top-level development strategies. Furthermore, it enables significant, phased reductions in all categories of pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions across the shipping sector, making it another large-scale, core vehicle for the shipping industry’s steady progress toward the goal of achieving zero-carbon emissions across the entire sector.
Reportedly, this vessel is the fifth in a series of six 15,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships built by Jiangnan Shipyard for CMA CGM; the final vessel in the series is scheduled for delivery this September.
