On July 13, under the supervision and support of the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration, the Hong Kong (China)-registered general cargo vessel “DU AN CHENG” departed from the Sunan International Container Terminal in Jiangyin, carrying 440 specialized containers bound for Chile, a country along the Belt and Road route. This marks the official maiden voyage of the new container shipping route from Jiangyin Port to Chile.
The “DU AN CHENG” set sail from Jiangyin directly to the Port of Angamos in Chile, covering a total distance of over 10,000 nautical miles with an estimated voyage time of about 30 days. Compared to non-direct shipping routes, this new service reduces transit time by nearly 20 days, significantly improving logistics efficiency and effectively lowering overall costs for businesses.
For a long time, the Jiangyin Maritime Safety Administration has deepened collaboration with local partners, fostering a favorable business environment to support port and shipping economic growth. Initiatives such as the “terminal consolidation and direct ship-to-ship transfer” loading model have been introduced, along with comprehensive solutions for exporting goods like new energy equipment and heavy machinery.
