Jotun to launch HullKeeper program at Posidonia
Hullkeeper gives ship operators the tools to improve efficiency, lower costs and help meet decarbonisation targets

Jotun is rolling out its HullKeeper proactive hull optimisation program this month

The HullKeeper program has been tested and employed by several ship operators since it was first announced in 2021. It enables ship operators to take full control of their vessels’ hulls, giving them the tools to improve efficiency, lower costs and help meet decarbonisation targets.

The wider rollout comes shortly before IMO’s Energy Efficiency Ship Index (EEXI) and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) regulations take effect, putting added pressure on ship operators to comply with the forthcoming regulations and industry decarbonisation targets, while maintaining profitability.

The four-part program combines Jotun’s analytical and technical services with advanced digital capability and ROV inspections. HullKeeper uses Jotun’s inhouse fouling risk algorithm and combines data from different sources to make fouling control and efficiency predictable.

Jotun global digital and data director Andreas Krapp said, “With HullKeeper, we offer customers unique hull performance support services based on solid and trusted data and advice regardless of the chosen coating. Customers can subscribe to the whole package or select individual modules depending on their needs.”

“Insight into developing issues as they begin to occur allows for planned corrective actions and as more information and data is accumulated, best practices can be adopted across the whole fleet,” said Mr Krapp.

The hull coatings provider has also partnered with NGO Bellona Foundation to launch the Clean Hull Initiative (CHI), an industry consortium focused on bringing in an industry standard for proactive hull cleaning to tackle biofouling.

Jotun will launch HullKeeper at Posidonia this week where Jotun will be present.
