Konecranes to Supply Lithuania Terminal

Lifting solutions provider Konecranes has agreed to supply ten Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes and two Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes to JSSC Klaipedos Smelte, a container terminal in the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania.

The order, which is expected to be delivered between November and December 2019, follows a previous order from JSSC Klaipedos Smelte for seven Konecranes RTGs and three Konecranes STSs.

The Lithuanian firm has found the productivity and reliability of the cranes to be important in the growth of the JSSC Klaipedos Smelte container terminal.

Konecranes’ STSs have an outreach of 52 meters, a lifting capacity of 65 tons and a lifting height of 42 meters, allowing them to serve the ultra-large container vessels currently planned for the Baltic Sea.

The RTG cranes will be powered by gensets, with a fuel saving system and conductor bar readiness for future conversion to busbar electric power.

In addition to this, they will also have gantry and stack collision prevention systems.
