Royal Caribbean calls at Labadee are suspended through September as Haiti’s instability continues
With violence and instability in Haiti continuing, Royal Caribbean calls at Labadee remain suspended, currently through September.
Labadee has been off the cruise charts since March.
Multinational security mission
According to news reports, amultinational security mission led by Kenya is preparing to deploy in an effort to stabilize Haitiand stave off a humanitarian crisis.
Royal Caribbean’sglobal security and intel team is closely monitoring the Haiti situation,a spokesman said, and the companywill communicate updates with passengers directly.
A variety of ships on different itineraries previously visited Labadee, located on a peninsula in northern Haiti and open onlyto Royal Caribbean passengers and employees, with private security on site.
Alternative ports added when possible
On most cruises Labadee is being replaced with alternative ports whenpossible or, otherwise, a sea day. Among the substitute port calls have been Perfect Day at CocoCay, Falmouth (Jamaica), Grand Turk, Bimini and others.
The Royal Caribbean team is still maintaining the site.
