Latest Global Top 100 Container Shipping Companies by Capacity (July 2025)

According to the latest data released by Alphaliner, as of July 8, the global fleet of operational container ships totaled 7,335 vessels, with a combined capacity of 32.665 million TEU, equivalent to approximately 387 million deadweight tons. The top three liner companies accounted for 46.83% of the global market share in total capacity.

The top three global liner companies by capacity are Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) (6.692 million TEU, 20.49%), Maersk Line (4.593 million TEU, 14.06%), and CMA CGM (4.014 million TEU, 12.29%).

Alphaliner noted that the rankings from fourth to tenth place are as follows: COSCO Shipping Group, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express (ONE), Evergreen Marine, HMM, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, and Yang Ming Marine Transport. The top seven companies each have a capacity exceeding 1.8 million TEU.

Rankings 11 to 20 are: Wan Hai Lines, Pacific International Lines (PIL), Sea Lead Shipping, X-Press Feeders Group, SITC Container Lines, UniFeeder, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), Korea Marine Transport Co. (KMTC), Sinokor Merchant Marine, and Global Feeder Shipping LLC.

Among the Chinese mainland liner companies on the list, COSCO Shipping Lines ranks fourth, SITC Container Lines ranks 15th, Ningbo Ocean Shipping ranks 24th, Tangshan Port HeDe Shipping ranks 25th, Antong Holdings (Quanzhou Ansheng Shipping) ranks 26th, Sinotrans Container Lines ranks 30th, Zhonggu Logistics ranks 34th, Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping ranks 35th, CU Lines ranks 45th, Yangpu Xinyuan Shipping ranks 47th, Taicang Port Container Shipping ranks 60th, Dalian Xinfeng Shipping ranks 62nd, Dalian Port Container & Logistics ranks 86th, Tianjin Datong Shipping ranks 89th, and Guangxi Hongxiang Shipping ranks 98th.
