Launch of resource-efficient vessel with innovative design and emission-reducing measures

The “Thun Reliance” was launched at a grand event held at the yard in Leer, Germany, on 3rd May. The vessel received its name from Godmother Camilla Dimberg, who is the Head of Physical Management at Preem. The Thun Reliance will soon be inducted into long-term employment with Preem once it is delivered. Scheepswerf Ferus Smit built the vessel, while MF Shipping Group will be responsible for its technical management.

The “Thun Reliance”is the second in a series of eight ordered’ Resource Efficiency’ sisters. The vessels have an industry-first innovative design with adaptive propulsion to minimise energy usage, ready-for-shore electricity connection, battery pack, the latest hull design and the newest and most resource-efficient machinery. The ordered vessels are part of Thun Tankers fleet renewal program, carefully tailor-made to reduce the climate footprint and meet the client’s future demands.

Maritime transport is an important part of Preem’s operations, and the company constantly strives toachieve better efficiency and environmental andmental performancewith its suppliers.

“We are proud and pleased to be able to add Thun Reliance to our growing fleet of long-term chartered tonnage. We are convinced that the vessel, with its improvements in cargo capacity and fuel consumption, as well as other emission-reducing measures, is well suited for Preem’s and our customers requirements and will contribute to the transformation towards a sustainable society”, said Daniel Berndolf, head of the shipping department at Preem AB.

Thun Tankers is part of the Erik Thun Group, a company owned by the Källsson family since 1938.
