Recently, the inland booking system, a core functional module of the Lianyungang Port Group’s Sea-River Combined Transport Platform, was successfully launched. After two days of actual business operation testing, the system ran stably and order processing was smooth. This marks a solid and crucial step forward for Lianyungang Port on its path to building an integrated smart logistics system.
As an integrated digital platform that consolidates ocean and inland waterway transport resources, the Sea-River Combined Transport Platform aims to enhance overall efficiency through unified scheduling, data interoperability, and process standardization. As the first functional module to be implemented, the inland booking system has achieved fully digitalized operations for the entire process, from ship schedule inquiries and demand submission to online booking and space confirmation. During the system’s initial operation, the platform successfully completed the full process for multiple orders. All steps, from shipper order placement and space allocation to shipping company order acceptance and confirmation, were efficiently connected. With its timely response speed and accurate data synchronization capabilities, the system fully validated its own stability and practicality.
The successful launch of this system has built a digital bridge between shippers and shipping companies. It provides shippers with a more transparent and convenient booking experience, allowing them to check key information such as the latest ship schedules in real-time, significantly saving time costs. Simultaneously, it provides shipping companies with more stable cargo source organization channels, significantly improving business connection efficiency. This operational model of data interoperability and process standardization lays a solid foundation for the subsequent integration of more value-added functions, such as a “single quoted price for sea-river transport” and vessel dynamic tracking.
“This is a key step in Lianyungang Port’s smart logistics construction. The platform will subsequently focus on extending from ‘inland’ to ‘sea-river,’ integrating port maritime resources to create a one-stop service loop for ‘sea-river combined transport’ and smooth the logistics channel connecting rivers and the sea,” said Shui Yuchao, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Lanbao Xingqiu Technology Co., Ltd. Located at a major coastal port in China and a hub where the “Belt and Road” initiative’s sea and land routes converge, the Port Group, using the full-process logistics service platform as its core vehicle, has paved the way for the comprehensive deepening of smart logistics through the successful implementation of this inland booking function.
It is reported that the platform will next explore expansion into railway transport, gradually building a comprehensive multimodal transport service system covering “sea-rail combined transport” to help the port achieve digital upgrade and high-quality development.
