Swedish e-fuels developer Liquid Wind AB has been declared bankrupt, putting its Nordic business and project portfolio up for sale, according to Liquid Wind and Styrks.
Liquid Wind AB, the parent company of Liquid Wind Group, entered bankruptcy on 11 May 2026. Lars Melin, a lawyer and partner at Swedish law firm Styrks, has been appointed bankruptcy trustee.
The sale covers the business in whole or in part, including subsidiaries in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The group’s portfolio includes projects in Sundsvall, Umeå and Örnsköldsvik with local municipal energy companies, as well as projects launched in Finland.
Liquid Wind had about 30 employees when the bankruptcy process began. Its 2024 annual report showed net sales of about SEK 94m ($10.0m). Bids are due by 25 May 2026.
The bankruptcy comes days after Liquid Wind filed an environmental permit application for EFÖvik, a planned e-methanol facility in Örnsköldsvik. The project was designed to use about 150,000 tonnes of captured biogenic CO₂ per year and produce more than 100,000 tonnes of eMethanol annually.
Liquid Wind AB is a Swedish company founded in 2017 and headquartered in Gothenburg. It develops eFuel facilities based on green hydrogen and biogenic CO₂.
