The Mærsk family’s shipbrokerage, Maersk Broker, once again saw its profit grow in 2021 following a string of years seeing declines.
Last year, the company secured a profit of DKK 92.5m (USD 13.1m) against DKK 37.6m the preceding year, marking the best result in a five-year period.
This is evident from the annual financial report of the company, which is owned by the three Mærsk daughters, Ane Mærsk Mc-Kinney Uggla, Leise Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller and Kirsten Mærsk Mc-Kinney Olufsen.
Profits have otherwise been on a downward trajectory in recent years, with the 2020 result being the lowest over three years.
The company expects the 2022 result before financial items to be higher than in 2021 and in the interval DKK 100-150m, reads the report.
Revenue grew considerably as well, from DKK 345.1m in 2020 to DKK 620.8m last year.
In 2020, Maersk Broker’s equity was more than halved to DKK 106.8m from DKK 320.4m in 2019 due to factors including an extraordinary payout of DKK 190m to the three owners. But equity has been built up again in 2021 and now lies at DKK 202.9m.
