A.P. Moller – Maersk has entered into an agreement to sell Maersk Training and Maersk H2S Safety Services.
OpenGate Capital, an industrial corporate carve-out specialist, will acquire the businesses.
However, the transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Maersk expects to complete the sale later in 2026.
The agreement reflects Maersk’s continued focus on developing its strategic brands.
Under its new ownership, Maersk Training will focus on training, safety, gas detection and workforce competency solutions.
“Maersk Training has built a strong business with highly skilled colleagues, trusted customer relationships and a solid foundation for future growth,” said Katharina Poehlmann, Head of Strategy, A.P. Moller – Maersk, and Chairwoman, Maersk Training.
“We believe this transaction will enable Maersk Training to continue developing under an owner with training, safety and competency solutions as a key focus area,” added Poehlmann.
According to Poehlmann, the transaction will create new opportunities for customers, employees and the business.
Maersk Training has provided specialised training, competence development and safety services for more than four decades.
The company supports customers in the energy, maritime, renewable energy and logistics industries. Its services focus on operational risk, workforce safety and performance.
Maersk H2S Safety Services operates as a subsidiary of Maersk Training. It provides gas detection and safety services for offshore and onshore energy industries.
“This is an important milestone for Maersk Training,” said David Skov, CEO, Maersk Training.
“The agreement recognises the strong business we have built together over the past 40-plus years,” added Skov.
“While many of us are proud of our Maersk heritage, we are equally excited about the opportunities this next chapter brings,” he continued.
Maersk Training will remain part of A.P. Moller – Maersk until the transaction closes.
Meanwhile, the company will continue serving customers and delivering its existing commitments. Employees, customers and partners should expect business to continue as usual during the transition.
