A.P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) announced that it has signed an agreement to sell Maersk Training and its subsidiary Maersk H2S Safety Services to Open Gate Capital, a firm specialized in acquisitions of industrial corporate divisions (corporate carve-outs).

The agreement remains subject to the fulfillment of customary closing conditions and the corresponding regulatory approvals.

The transaction reflects Maersk’s continued focus on the development of its strategic brands and recognizes the solid position that Maersk Training and Maersk H2S Safety Services have consolidated in the market. Under Open Gate Capital’s ownership, the company will be well positioned to continue its growth with a strategic focus dedicated to training, gas detection, safety, and workforce competency development solutions.

“Maersk Training has built a solid business, with highly skilled employees, trusted client relationships, and a firm foundation for future growth. We believe this transaction will allow Maersk Training to continue developing under an owner whose main focus area is training, safety, and competency development solutions, creating new opportunities for clients, employees, and the business as a whole,” stated Katharina Poehlmann, Chief Strategy Officer of A.P. Moller – Maersk and Chair of the Board of Directors of Maersk Training.

For more than four decades, Maersk Training has provided specialized training, competency development, and safety services to industries such as energy, the maritime sector, renewable energy, and logistics, supporting its clients in managing operational risk and the safety of their workers.

“This is an important milestone for Maersk Training. The agreement recognizes the solid business we have built together for more than 40 years. Although many of us are proud of our Maersk heritage, we are also excited about the opportunities this new chapter will bring under an owner with experience in generating long-term value and that will allow us to strengthen our strategic focus. Until the transaction is completed, our focus will remain the same: serving our clients, supporting one another, and fulfilling our commitments and ambitions,” noted David Skov, CEO of Maersk Training.

Until the transaction is completed, which is expected to occur later in 2026, Maersk Training will continue to operate as part of A.P. Moller – Maersk. Employees, clients, and business partners can expect operations to continue as normal throughout the entire transition period.
