Maersk is launching a new service called CAX, connecting the Caribbean to Northern Europe, to strengthen its maritime network in Latin America.

In a statement from Maersk, it was stated that the CAX service will replace the existing CRX and COEX routes and is designed to offer greater reliability, efficient transit times, and expanded connectivity in key markets.

CAX will feature a port rotation including Antwerp – Southampton – Hamburg – Bremerhaven – Newark – Manzanillo (Panama) – Puerto Antioquia – Puerto Moín – Manzanillo (Panama).

Until the new facility in Colombia’s Antioquia port terminal, scheduled to commence operations on November 1, is fully operational, it will be served by a feeder service connected to Manzanillo (Panama).

CAX will begin northbound operations on September 26 with the departure of Monte Linzor from Puerto Moín.

Starting September 29, southbound operations will begin with the departure of Maersk Monte Alto from the Antwerp seaport terminal.

Other changes in September will include the addition of Santa Marta-Magdalena (Colombia) as the final port in Latin America and Southampton as the first port in Europe to Maersk’s CLX service. Additionally, the rotation between Rotterdam and Antwerp will also be adjusted.

Meanwhile, Veracruz and Altamira in Mexico will be served via a dedicated loop (TA4) in the Transatlantic network, with weekly sailings to and from Northern Europe.
