Japan Coastguard patrol ship Echigo (IMO 8800731)
ran aground at around 06:35 local time on January 18th when it was
off Kashiwazaki, Niigata Prefecture, Honshu, Japan. The circumstances of the
grounding were as yet unclear.

Tsugaru-class patrol ship ECHIGO, displacement 4037,
commissioned 1990, complement 69, armament guns. As of January 19th the vessel remained aground.

1990-built, Japan-flagged, 3,133 gt Echigo is owned and
managed by the Japan Government Coastguard.

The salvage of /vehicle RoRo Satya Kencana
III (IMO 8904563), which sank at the Panglima Utar Kumai Port, Kotawaringin
Barat (Kobar) Regency, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, on October 19th 2022, has
been hampered by heavy currents. The vessel has been partially lifted, but the strong
waves kept pushing it out of position, according to a report. Its location had also
shifted by some 15-to-20 metres. Salvors were still trying to secure the ship.

1989-built, Indonesia-flagged, 2,825 gt Satya Kencana III
is owned and managed by Dharma Lautan Utama Pt of Surabaya, Indonesia. No AIS
since October 19th 2022.

A crew member was evacuated from LNG carrier Maria
Energy (IMO 9659725) during the night of January 18th by Salvamento
Marítimo SAR vessel Salvamar Enif and an SAR helicopter, off the southern
Spanish port of Tarifa. The vessel was anchored in Banco del Hoyo at the time .
The patient was transferred to the Hospital de Jerez.

2016-built, Liberia-flagged, 113,664 gt Maria Energy is
owned by Canyon Trading Corp care of manager Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd (TEN
Ltd) of Athens, Greece. ISM manager is HMM Ocean Service Co Ltd of Busan, South
Korea. It is entered with UK Club (Area Group E2 – EMEA) on behalf of Canyon
Trading Corp.
