The Deputy Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration, Bob Munroe, provided an update to Baltimore city officials at the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Consolidated Transportation Plan meeting, where he unveiled an increase in operations and the arrival of a new cruise ship.
Munroe highlighted the strong momentum at the port, noting that all key commodities at the state-owned public marine terminals, such as automobiles, containers, agricultural and construction machinery, forest products, and bulk cargo, increased compared to last year.
The Deputy Executive Director also announced that a larger Carnival Cruise Line ship will call Baltimore its homeport starting in the 2027 season, while the Howard Street Tunnel (CSX) project, which will allow double-stacked containers to and from the Port of Baltimore, will be completed next spring.
