It is the first LNG-powered unit in the Tui Cruises fleet

Barcelona – The Mein Schiff Relax, the first ship of Tui Cruises’ new class, has successfully completed the first ship-to-ship bioLNG refueling in the port of Barcelona: it is a 100% renewable fuel obtained from organic waste. This fuel enables a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions between 70% and 100%, depending on the raw material used, contributing to the achievement of the objectives set by the FuelEU Maritime directive.

This operation represents the second supply of bioLNG in Barcelona: previously, Baleària had received the fuel via tanker trucks, while ship-to-ship bunkering allowed the refueling capacity to increase by more than 15 times.

The Mein Schiff Relax is the first LNG-powered unit in the Tui Cruises fleet. All new builds by the company will be prepared for the use of next-generation alternative fuels, such as green methanol. The entire operation qualifies as a “zero-kilometer” supply, as both the production and delivery of bioLNG took place within the port of Barcelona at Enagás’ certified facility.
