Memorandum of Cooperation WISTA International – BIMCO

BIMCO and WISTA (Women’s International Shipping & Trading Association) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the aim of jointly addressing the significant challenges and opportunities related to the workforce sustainability in shipping, “from cradle to cradle”. The Memorandum was signed during Maritime Cyprus by David Loosley and Elpi Petraki and recognizes the increasing need to retain and enhance the maritime human capital through safe, fair, inclusive, and attractive working conditions, as the industry transitions to the use of new fuels, increased automation, and digitalization.

With the signing of the Memorandum, the two organizations commit to working closely together on initiatives aimed at ensuring that seafaring and other maritime professions will remain safe, sustainable, and attractive for the coming decades. The empowerment of human capital and, in particular, the promotion of the strong presence and advancement of women in shipping is a top priority.
