Submission of the request for the establishment of the U-Space

The Port System Authority of the Sea of Sicily Occidentale has recently signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with STRADAai – STRADA Artificial Intelligence Srl aimed at development and integration of drone operations into the activities port workers. The initiative aims at experimentation and integration of UAS technologies and U-space systems, i.e. digital services that allow you to “organize drone traffic”, such as it happens for planes, but at low altitude. The U-space is key to making drones coexist safely and efficiently with port activities, avoiding interference and improving the coordination of operations.

Through the collaboration with STRADAai, the Sicilian Port Authority intends to launch a structured programme dedicated to the use of Drones for tasks such as infrastructure monitoring security support, inspection of docks and ships, environmental monitoring, rapid response in case of emergency and the development of new logistical and technical-nautical services. The first step through the port of Palermo is the presentation of the request for the establishment of the U-Space to the authorities that will allow you to safely integrate and regulated drone operations in port airspace.
