Its objective is: The training and upgrading of skills of 1,500 seafarers, shipping executives, and port workers on topics of new fuels, digital skills, sustainability, and soft skills, the enhancement of the participation of companies and ports in emissions reduction initiatives, and the raising of public awareness on climate change.
The program is coordinated by HELMEPA, with the support of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, and with the participation of over 100 shipping organizations. A key vehicle of this initiative is the conduct of an online survey, where anyone who has a role in shipping can contribute to the effort of enhancing the understanding of the complex process for the decarbonization of the sector.
