Canada’s Minister of Trade, Dominic LeBlanc, announced that the Contrecoeur expansion of the Port of Montreal is included on the preliminary list of major national initiatives under Bill C-5.
According to the portfolio head, his division is ready to take the step of launching the construction of a strategic infrastructure that will allow local businesses to diversify their trade towards future markets, while generating significant positive impacts for Quebec and Canada.
“This project, meticulously planned and rigorously developed to comply with all laws and regulations, is an engine for our economy, our supply chain and the prosperity of our communities. With the support of the Government of Canada, we hope to move quickly to action,” stated LeBlanc.
