Msc Crociere and Meyer Werft have issued a joint statement regarding the current state of negotiations on the contract for the construction of four next-generation cruise ships, plus two options.
“In December 2025, Meyer Werft and Msc Crociere announced a letter of intent for the construction of four innovative cruise ships, plus two options, at the Meyer Werft shipyard. In the meantime, the concrete planning for the design of the ships and the negotiations for the conclusion of the related contracts have reached an advanced stage. This is a large and complex set of contracts, for which at least six months are typically required. Meyer Werft and Msc Crociere are confident that they can successfully conclude the negotiations in the coming weeks. The partners will then inform the market accordingly.”
The newbuilds will be part of a new class of cruise ships named “New Frontier”. The contract will secure the employment of the shipyard’s production capacity for much of the next decade.
