NEURA Robotics has announced a strategic collaboration with HD Hyundai Samho Co., Ltd. and HD Hyundai Robotics to integrate cognitive robotics into shipyard operations.

The partnership aims to address critical industry challenges, including labor shortages and the need for improved safety and efficiency, by deploying quadruped and humanoid robots in real-world shipbuilding environments.

Under this initiative, the three companies will co-develop and test robotics solutions that leverage NEURA Robotics’ cognitive technologies alongside Hyundai’s expertise in shipbuilding and industrial automation.

“This collaboration marks a significant step forward not just for the companies involved, but for the entire shipbuilding sector,” NEURA Robotics stated. “By uniting decades of experience in shipbuilding and robotics, we are setting new standards for innovation, productivity, and workplace safety.”

Cognitive robots, capable of perceiving, understanding, and learning from their environments, are expected to perform a wide range of tasks, from inspection and logistics to precision welding and maintenance support. The robots will be tested under real working conditions to ensure reliability and performance.

In a similar initiative, in May, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) and HD Hyundai Robotics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Persona AI and Vazil Company to jointly develop humanoid robots capable of performing complex welding tasks in shipyards.
