NACOS Marine has expanded its maritime technology portfolio through the integration of Finland-based Groke Technologies, bringing AI-driven situational awareness tools into its bridge and navigation systems business. The deal adds another layer of digital bridge support aimed at improving visibility, operational awareness and decision-making in challenging conditions. The move also strengthens Finland’s role in maritime technology development as operators seek more connected and data-driven bridge systems across commercial fleets.
NACOS Marine has confirmed that Groke Technologies of Turku, Finland, has joined the company and will now operate as NACOS Marine Finland Oy. The integration brings Groke’s vision-assist technology into NACOS Marine’s navigation, automation and control systems portfolio under the new product name, NACOS Vision Assist.
The technology combines thermal imaging, visual overlays, machine learning and sensor fusion to provide bridge crews with real-time situational awareness. According to the company, the system is designed to support officers with clearer visibility in difficult operating conditions while functioning as an intelligent digital watchkeeper.
Bridge visibility and operational awareness remain high on the agenda as fleets adopt more advanced digital systems to support navigation, safety and operational performance.
Thomas Heldarskard-Winnerskjold, CEO of NACOS Marine, said: “NACOS Marine aims to become the most advanced bridge, Dynamic Positioning and Automation technology company by introducing a broad portfolio of products. Finland has a proud maritime heritage and exceptional engineering talent, and NACOS Marine Finland represents our commitment to investing in both. We look forward to introducing NACOS Vision Assist to the global market later this year.”
John Weierud, Chief Product & Technology Officer at NACOS Marine, said the integration would expand the reach of the technology across the global maritime sector. “The vision-assist systems developed by Groke Technologies complement perfectly the NACOS Marine navigation and bridge systems. Integrating this highly skilled team within the family of NACOS Marine companies will help us accelerate development and bring this technology to a much broader global market.”
Juha Rokka, Managing Director of NACOS Marine Finland Oy, added: “From the outset, our vision was always to redefine vessel awareness of their surroundings.”
