China News Service, Nanning, June 22 (Feng Yun, He Hongpei, Wu Qihai) — The Beibu Gulf International Port Group of Guangxi introduced on the 22nd that the Liujing Operation Area of Beigang Xijiang Port’s Nanning Port has recently officially obtained the “Port Dangerous Cargo Handling Operation Certificate,” becoming the first inland river general cargo terminal in Guangxi to successfully add dangerous cargo handling operation qualifications, filling a regional functional gap.

The certificate obtained this time covers the handling operation qualifications for the 9th category of dangerous goods, such as lithium batteries, marking that the dangerous cargo container handling operations at the Nanning Port Liujing Operation Area have achieved full-process compliant operations. The acquisition of the certificate will help the operation area deeply integrate into the construction of the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt, opening up the “last mile” for new energy products such as energy storage and power batteries from the Eastern New City of Nanning to reach the sea via rivers.

To obtain Guangxi’s first “Port Dangerous Cargo Handling Operation Certificate” for an inland river general cargo terminal, the Nanning Port project team overcame technical and management challenges one by one.

At the regional service level, it effectively resolves the bottleneck of “difficulty in shipping out” for the new energy industry via inland river waterways, further densifying Guangxi’s inland river dangerous cargo transport network, and strongly ensuring the safety and stability of the regional new energy industry chain and supply chain.

At the industry development level, as the first successful case of transformation and upgrading for an inland river general cargo terminal in Guangxi, this qualification breaks down industry barriers and significantly enhances the port’s diversified, high-end, and specialized logistics service capabilities.

In the next step, Beigang Xijiang Port will continue to refine the standards for dangerous cargo container handling operations, optimize operational procedures and on-site control systems, strictly manage full-process safety and environmental management, and regularly conduct personnel skills training and emergency drills.
