Neptune Group of Companies has taken delivery of the next-generation “Neptune Pireas”, the first of four newbuildings under its “Genesis Project”, marking a defining milestone in the Group’s fleet renewal and expansion strategy.

The delivery ceremony took place on Monday, April 27, at Fujian Mawei Shipyard in China, in the presence of the Chair of the Board of Neptune Group of Companies, Melina Travlos, along with representatives of all partnering stakeholders from both countries.

The name “Pireas” is inspired by Piraeus, the historic port, the enduring center of Greek shipping, and the landmark point from which Neptune’s journey began more than 50 years ago.

Built at Fujian Mawei Shipyard, “Neptune Pireas” flies the Greek flag and features the signature “eye” on its bow — a distinctive symbol and hallmark of the Group’s fleet. The new vessel is expected to further strengthen Neptune Lines’ operations, meeting high operational standards and supporting the Group’s continuously expanding logistics services.

Equipped with LNG dual-fuel capability, enabling operation on both LNG and conventional fuels, “Neptune Pireas” has been designed with the flexibility to accommodate a range of fuel oil types, meeting the evolving environmental and energy regulatory framework of the maritime industry. At the same time, it reinforces the Group’s commitment as a pioneer in sustainability and technological advancement in modern global shipping.

The Chair of the Board of Neptune Group of Companies, Melina Travlos, stated:

“We are all deeply proud across the Neptune family for the delivery of “Neptune Pireas”. This is a state-of-the-art, next-generation vessel that reflects in practice our strategic commitment to continuous progress, guided by our people-centered and customer-focused philosophy, while ensuring the best possible environmental footprint.”

She further noted:

“I am particularly moved that my daughter, Mariana, is the godmother of this vessel, which symbolizes the beginning of a new era for our Group.”

The naming of the vessel by Mariana Travlou also highlights the continuity of generations within the long-term vision of Neptune Group of Companies.

Mariana Travlou stated:

“To all who designed and built her, thank you. Your work will carry forward across every voyage she undertakes. The name Pireas honors our great harbor – a historic gateway of connection and exploration. It speaks not only of movement, but of transition, opportunity, and new horizons. May this vessel embody that same spirit wherever she sails.”
