The crane with a lifting capacity of 144 tons and a maximum reach of 54 meters represents a modern solution for the transshipment of various types of cargo, announced the Port of Bar.

The new mobile port crane, which arrived at the Port of Bar at the end of August, has been put into operation and is already handling the transshipment of 65.000 tons of coal for the needs of the company “Elektroprivreda Srbije”.

This was announced by the company, which purchased this crane after a disaster caused by a natural disaster, when all three loading bridges were demolished and the damage, according to the expert’s findings, was estimated at 13,5 million euros.

“This significant investment, worth 4,9 million euros, brings new capacities to the Port of Bar and marks an important step in strengthening efficiency and modernization. The crane with a lifting capacity of 144 tons and a maximum reach of 54 meters represents a modern solution for the transshipment of various types of cargo,” the state-owned company said.

They added that “Luka Bar” continued to invest in infrastructure and equipment in order to provide stable and efficient support to partners and respond to market needs.

As “Vijesti” previously wrote, the company secured the money for the purchase of the crane through a loan from the Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro.

The crane type is Liebherr LHM550, with a nominal capacity of 144 tons and a maximum reach of 54 meters. It has an optimal level of technological flexibility and can handle dry bulk cargo (with a grab), general cargo (with a hook) and containers (with a spreader) and will be used at the Terminal for Dry Bulk, Liquid and Special Cargoes – the part of the terminal where about 75 percent of the total volume of transshipment in the “Port of Bar” is realized.
