New Times Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has launched a 298,000-dwt LNG dual-fuel crude oil tanker at its yard in China.
The launch ceremony took place on 9 May. The vessel, bearing builder’s hull number 0330005, is the fifth unit in a series of very large crude carriers (VLCCs) being constructed at the yard.
Representatives from the Chinese shipbuilder and classification society DNV attended the event.
The crude carrier is being built for Mount Vision Inc and incorporates LNG dual-fuel capability, allowing it to run on LNG or conventional marine fuel.
New Times Shipbuilding is based in Jiangsu Province and has been constructing various vessel types, including bulk carriers, crude oil tankers and product carriers.
