Ningbo, August 18 (CNS) (by Dong Yixin and Sun Jiali) On the 18th, 100 standard containers of Yiwu daily commodities were successively loaded onto a direct cargo ship, which departed from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang Province bound for Aden Port in Yemen. This marks the inaugural run of the “Yiwu (Suxi) International Hub Port – Ningbo-Zhoushan Port – Aden Port” sea-rail combined transport freight train.
It is reported that this train service adopts a seamless “rail + sea” connection model: goods depart from Yiwu, Zhejiang, and go directly to Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, then transfer to a direct liner to reach the Gulf of Aden, achieving highly efficient logistics. Simultaneously, export goods can complete port procedures such as pre-release and pre-stowage in Yiwu, significantly shortening customs clearance time.
In 2004, Zhejiang first proposed developing multimodal transport at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, marking the beginning of rail-water combined transport in the province. Today, the “Yiwu – Ningbo-Zhoushan Port” sea-rail combined transport route has become the route with the largest freight volume in Zhejiang.
It is reported that the local area is accelerating the construction of new channels such as “Yiwu – Ningbo – Egypt’s Port Said West,” exploring efficient, low-cost, and high-quality export logistics paths. (End)
