Smyril Lines Norröna, which normally sails triangular routes between Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Iceland, is making a trip to Oslo in January, where the Faroese men’s national handball team is participating in the European Men’s Handball Championship from January 15 to January 20.
More than 1,000 Faroese people – which corresponds to just over 5 percent of the population – have bought tickets for the handball tournament matches to support the local handball heroes. To have a place to sleep in the Norwegian capital, the Faroese fans have chartered the Norröna for an entire week, from January 14-20.
Norröna docks at Akershuskaia, and it can hardly be more central.
