The Philippine terminal enhances berths and sustainability with investments aimed at the growth of domestic traffic
Manila – NorthPort, the Manila terminal managed by ICTSI, continues its modernization with the arrival of two new Konecranes Gottwald ESP 5 mobile cranes, part of a strategic program aimed at supporting the increase in domestic traffic and improving operational reliability.
The machines, with a lifting capacity of 41 tonnes and an outreach of 46 meters, will be operational at Pier 10, strengthening the activities of Terminal 2 and joining the eight dock cranes already active at Terminal 1. The increase in lifting capacity will allow the terminal to handle more ships simultaneously and increase dock productivity.
In parallel, NorthPort has ordered four new Mitsui hybrid RTGs, arriving in the fourth quarter of 2026, which will help reduce consumption and emissions. The current hybrid models have already demonstrated a 49% reduction in CO₂ emissions, halving the annual environmental impact.
“We want to anticipate customer needs and guarantee an increasingly efficient service,” stated General Manager Justin Tolentino, emphasizing how the investments are fundamental to supporting volume expansion and stabilizing operational quality.
With these new assets, NorthPort consolidates its position as a strategic hub for Philippine logistics, focusing on capacity, productivity, and sustainability.
