This news follows a successful streak for the port, which has cleared 50,000 containers in rail volume for four consecutive months.

In addition, auto volume between January and June 2018 is 6.2% greater when compared to the same six month period of 2017.

Although concerns had been raised regarding the implications of a trade war for throughput levels, the record-breaking June for New York and New Jersey does align with the upward trend suggested by Global Kuehne + Nagel Indicators (gKNi).

Based on data from May and June, cargo and container throughput in the world’s largest ports has risen by 3.2% over theyear, placing New York and New Jersey ahead of the curve in June.
