NYK Line has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Neptune Robotics to expand the use of robotic hull cleaning across its global fleet.
The companies have worked together since 2022, with NYK among the first to adopt Neptune’s system. The Japanese shipping giant notes that earlier deployments have delivered measurable fuel savings and emissions reductions.
The new agreement will see robotic cleaning scaled across NYK’s operations, with further efficiency gains expected in the next phase. NYK has also joined Neptune’s recent $52 million Series B funding round led by Granite Asia.
“NYK has been one of the earliest and most forward-looking adopters of robotic hull cleaning,” said Elizabeth Chan , CEO of Neptune Robotics.
“Their leadership has allowed us to demonstrate how automation can deliver real RoI and emissions reductions at scale. Together, we are proving robotics is a practical, scalable pathway to decarbonisation.”
