BoatChecks has reintroduced itself as Ocealis in a move that signals wider ambitions in digital fleet operations. The shift reflects the company’s expanded role in supporting the UK’s commercial marine sector with deeper data use and more advanced operational tools. The refreshed brand arrives as Ocealis strengthens its work with industry partners and prepares a major platform update for 2026.
BoatChecks, the long-standing UK digital compliance and vessel operations platform, has taken on a new identity as Ocealis. The announcement was made during the Workboat Association Annual General Meeting in Leeds and marks a clear step towards a broader remit within commercial marine operations.
The move reflects how the company has grown from a compliance-focused SaaS tool into a more comprehensive platform used by operators of workboats, harbour vessels, passenger craft, CTVs, USVs and aquaculture support vessels. Its tools support daily tasks across regulatory compliance, maintenance planning and crew and asset management.
Ocealis is positioning the rebrand as part of a larger evolution in capability and purpose. The company plans to place stronger emphasis on digital transformation across commercial fleets, with a greater reliance on fleet-wide data, mobile workflows and analytics that can support day-to-day decision making.
“Our rebrand to Ocealis is the natural next step in our journey,” said John Peacock, Founding Director and CEO. “We have recently experienced rapid growth, with our platform now serving many significant commercial craft operators. Ocealis will allow us to sharpen our focus, deliver more powerful tools and better reflect the breadth of our offering and the value that we bring to the commercial marine and workboat sector.”
Peacock added that the team is working closely with INNOVATE UK to expand the system further. “We are working at pace to significantly improve our current system in partnership with INNOVATE UK with our updated version due to launch in the second quarter of 2026. To do this we are working with our strategic partners to introduce enhancements enabling the adoption of Ocealis to assist more complex organisations regulated to ISM with their compliance.”
The company has already introduced a series of platform improvements. These include a more intuitive interface, added flexibility and new tools such as bunkering records, document and certificate tracking, defect management and crew certification monitoring.
Ocealis aims to better reflect the scale and complexity of modern commercial fleets. The brand is designed to convey the depth of operational insight the platform intends to provide as it expands its role across the sector.
Current users will transition seamlessly to the new identity, with services continuing unchanged and a continued focus on responsive customer support.
