The bronze Olympic medalist in pole vault and “silver” at the World Championships in Tokyo, Emmanouil Karalis, is officially a member of the Country’s Navy, as he was sworn in earlier as an Ensign of the HN. This event was made known by “Manolo” through photographs he published on social media, thus revealing the indescribable joy and honor he felt.
As he himself stated: “It is an honor for me to have joined the Hellenic Navy. An honor worthy of an Olympic medalist.”
The Greek champion, who with his international distinctions, but mainly with his character, has inspired an entire generation of Greeks, today assumed yet another honorary “title,” having as his legacy the values of effort, persistence, and responsibility.
It is noted that the Greek athlete’s relationship with the sea and the shipping industry is close, as the Neptune Group, owned by Ms. Melina Travlos, has been a steady supporter of his competitive presence through a sponsorship program.
