Orient Overseas Container Line has named OOCL Wisdom, its first 24,168-TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessel and the first ship in a seven-vessel series, at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co, according to OOCL.
OOCL said the vessel is currently the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ship. Its main engines, auxiliary engines and boilers are fitted with methanol dual-fuel systems, while the ship also has energy-efficiency management, intelligent monitoring and safety assurance systems.
The naming ceremony was held at the NACKS shipyard, where Cao Yanping, director of Fujian Yaohua Industrial Village Development Co, named the vessel.
Orient Overseas Container Line Limited and OOCL (Europe) Limited provide transport services under the OOCL trade name and are wholly owned subsidiaries of Orient Overseas (International) Limited. The group is headquartered in Hong Kong and operates container transport and logistics services across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Oceania.
Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co is a Chinese shipbuilding company known as NACKS.
Fujian Yaohua Industrial Village Development Co is a China-based company represented at the ceremony by director Cao Yanping.
