OOIL has signed for 12 LNG dual-fuel container ships of 13,640 TEU at CSSC in an order package that also includes two 210,000-dwt bulk carriers and four 6,400-TEU container ships, according to China State Shipbuilding Corp.
The 12-vessel contract was signed by Hudong-Zhonghua and China Shipbuilding Trading Co with Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. CSSC said the design is a new-generation neo-panamax flagship developed by the yard with capacity for about 1,600 reefer slots.
The ships will be fitted with LNG dual-fuel propulsion, a new-generation intelligent ship system for real-time energy-efficiency monitoring, an optimised hull form and energy-saving devices.
In the same batch, Beihai Shipbuilding and China Shipbuilding Trading Co signed for two 210,000-dwt bulk carriers with China Shipping, while Huangpu Wenchong and China Shipbuilding Trading Co booked four 6,400-TEU container ships with CULines.
CSSC said the bulker design is Beihai’s fifth-generation Polaris type. It said the 6,400-TEU ships were designed by the 708 Research Institute and will integrate an energy-saving duct, shaft generator and high-voltage shore-power capability.
CSSC said the design is aimed at Asian regional trunk routes as well as medium- and long-haul trades including the Red Sea.
CSSC added that Beihai has delivered more than 100 large bulk carriers. It also said Huangpu Wenchong had previously delivered four 1,900-TEU and two 2,700-TEU container ships to CULines, with those vessels becoming core operating units in that fleet.
