Hong Kong-based OPearl LNG Ship Management has agreed a ten-year Lifecycle Agreement with Wärtsilä covering 14 newbuild LNG carriers, aimed at improving operational reliability through Dynamic Maintenance Planning and predictive maintenance technologies.
Dynamic Maintenance Planning will allow flexible maintenance scheduling based on actual engine condition, extending time between overhauls and reducing downtime. The system provides continuous monitoring and analytics-driven recommendations to optimise service intervals, while also integrating remote operational support and contract management.
The agreement includes Wärtsilä’s Expert Insight predictive maintenance platform, which uses real-time vessel data and AI to detect anomalies and address potential failures before they impact operations.
“We currently manage tight delivery schedules and require operations with minimal downtime and reduced maintenance interruptions. The 14 vessels covered by the agreement will be delivered between Q3 2025 and Q2 2027, each equipped with two 6-cylinder and two 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engines and four Wärtsilä Gas Valve Units.
OPearl LNG Ship Management was established in 2023 as a joint venture between China Merchant LNG, CNOOC and NYK to manage LNG carriers for all three shareholders.
