New York-based maritime tech provider has acquired a rival, improving its voyage optimisation and environmental regulatory compliance services

New York, US-headquartered OrbitMI has acquired Gale Force and its services for ship voyage optimisation and environmental compliance.

With this combination, shipowners, operators and managers can use artificial intelligence (AI) to plan and execute routes, track emissions and fuel consumption, improve schedule reliability and reduce risks to vessels, people and cargo.

Gale Force has developed services for weather routeing and passage optimisation, bringing together algorithms and marine meteorologists, enabling ships to reduce fuel consumption and improve safety. It provides emissions reporting tools for compliance with global regulations such as IMO and European Union emissions monitoring, reporting and verification schemes and the carbon intensity index.

OrbitMI consolidates key regulatory data in one interface for reporting and compliance. Operators can monitor emissions, track vessel performance through voyages, and generate reports for regulatory bodies.
