Reached 5.7 billion dollars, marking a growth of 14.4% compared to the 4.98 billion of the previous year

Panama – The Panama Canal recorded a significant increase in transits in fiscal year 2025 with a total of 13,404 passages, an increase of 19.3% compared to the 11,240 of the previous year which had been heavily penalized by drought-related restrictions. Of these transits, 3,342 were made by neo-Panamax vessels, while 10,062 by Panamax units. The Panama Canal Authority announced that total revenue reached 5.7 billion dollars, marking a growth of 14.4% compared to the 4.98 billion of the previous year. These results, still preliminary, demonstrate “the operational and financial solidity of the Canal” and the efficiency in the management of resources “in a complex global context,” the Authority stated. Among the main growth factors are the positive performances of the container sector and liquefied petroleum gas. The dry bulk sector continued its recovery process, while the liquefied natural gas segment recorded results below expectations, mainly due to high transport costs on international markets. In parallel, the Panama Canal confirmed the investments planned starting from 2026, in line with the long-term infrastructure development plans.
