The navigation lock of the Yacyretá Hydroelectric Plant has been fully rehabilitated following the completion of recently performed maintenance work, according to the Yacyretá Binational Entity (EBY).

With the culmination of the corrective tasks, the passage of vessels is once again enabled, guaranteeing the safe resumption of locking operations since last Wednesday, the 24th of this month.

The EBY communicated the news to companies in the shipping sector and to river transport operators, highlighting that the improvements ensure the continuity of traffic in this infrastructure strategic for regional navigation.

The entity also underscored the importance of normalizing river activities, considering that a significant portion of the country’s foreign trade is conducted via this waterway. The Yacyretá navigation lock is the only one of its kind in Paraguay and constitutes a key point for connectivity and the development of waterway transport.
