Hard Data Witnesses New Economic Vitality in 162.68 Billion “Small Parcels”

Traditional routes expanded, service scenarios diversified, and new technologies improve quality and efficiency. In the first 10 months of this year, China’s express delivery industry saw increases in both volume and quality, highlighting the economy’s robust vitality.

Since the beginning of this year, the promotion and use of technologies such as drones and unmanned vehicles have allowed express delivery to break through ground traffic limitations and reshape the spatiotemporal efficiency of logistics.

The latest data shows that in the first 10 months of this year, China’s express delivery business volume reached 162.68 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 16.1%. From “100 billion pieces annually” to “100 billion pieces monthly,” China’s express delivery business maintains high growth on a high base, with the time taken to reach 100 billion pieces continuously shortening; this year, the time to reach 100 billion pieces was 35 days earlier than in 2024.

While business volume grows rapidly, regional development has also become more balanced. Since the beginning of this year, the express delivery volume growth rate in Shaanxi, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and other places has exceeded 30%, with the business share of the central and western regions increasing by 1.1 and 0.6 percentage points respectively. In Xinjiang, the postal service newly opened 12 direct air mail routes, radiating across the country; express delivery companies and railway departments innovatively launched the “front warehouse + railway block train” model, increasing transport efficiency by about 10% and reducing costs by nearly 30%.

As the categories of shipped goods and service scenarios become more diverse, the express delivery industry continues to expand its service scope, fully meeting the delivery needs for consumer goods trade-ins, live streaming e-commerce, holiday economy, etc., supporting the continuous improvement of market circulation, and helping to unleash online consumption demand. Calculations show that every minute, physical goods worth approximately 23.41 million yuan are sold online via express delivery.
