Performance Shipping, a shipping company specializing in tanker management, is expanding its fleet through the secondary market. More specifically, two subsidiary companies under the umbrella of Performance Shipping signed an agreement with an independent third party for the purchase of the Suezmaxes “M/T Eco Bel Air” and “M/T Eco Beverly Hills”.

The said vessels, with a capacity of 157,286 dwt each, were built by the Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries shipyards of South Korea in 2019. Both tankers feature technologies that improve their energy efficiency, while they are also equipped with scrubbers.

It is noted that the cost for each vessel amounts to $75,438,000. Performance Shipping expects to take delivery of the vessels between December 2025 and January 2026, at which time they will be renamed “M/T P. Bel Air” and “M/T P. Beverly Hills”. The company’s CEO, Andreas Michalopoulos, emphasized that the acquisition of these high-specification tankers aligns with Performance Shipping’s objectives for fleet expansion and renewal. At the same time, through this strategy, the company’s environmental profile is improved, and as a result, it will have the ability to secure favorable charter contracts.
