Marlink is bringing a new era of ship connectivity to Polsteam’s fleet. With Starlink integration and stronger cybersecurity, the Polish dry bulk carrier is taking a confident step toward safer, smarter, and more connected operations at sea.

Polsteam, Poland’s leading dry bulk vessel operator, is moving into a new phase of digital operations through a fleetwide network upgrade from Marlink. The maritime ICT provider announced that it has deployed its Sealink NextGen hybrid network across 50 Polsteam vessels, combining high-speed Starlink connectivity with traditional VSAT systems.

The upgrade aims to make onboard communications faster, safer, and more reliable. It is part of Marlink’s effort to support ship operators transitioning to digital tools that improve both operational efficiency and crew welfare. Alongside improved bandwidth, Polsteam vessels will also benefit from Marlink’s Unified Threat Management solution to strengthen their cyber resilience.

“Our internationally trading fleet requires us to maintain a high level of interaction between masters and managers, using increasingly advanced tools for collaboration,” said Adam Rogucki, Technical Director at Polsteam. “The Marlink solution enables us to enhance our remote operations in a secure environment, increasing efficiency and leisure solutions for our crews.”

Marlink’s Sealink NextGen setup combines low-latency LEO internet with the reliability of VSAT, managed through the company’s XChange platform. This hybrid approach helps maintain connectivity even in remote regions, allowing vessels to keep data flowing for navigation, logistics, and crew communications.

“Polsteam has a reputation as a committed long term player in the dry bulk market, with a requirement for high quality solutions from trusted partners,” said Tore Morten Olsen, President of Maritime at Marlink. “By addressing their needs for quality, security and enhanced connectivity options we are able to unlock opportunities and deliver tangible service enhancements.”

Founded in 1951, Polsteam has grown into the largest dry bulk operator in Eastern Europe, with vessels carrying cargo worldwide. The company’s decision to adopt Marlink’s hybrid network reflects a growing shift among shipowners who are modernizing operations through digital connectivity and stronger cyber protection.

With the new system in place, Polsteam’s crews will have access to faster communication tools while the company ensures its operations stay efficient and secure—both at sea and on shore.
