From September 2026 until March 2027 Ponant’s Le Jacques-Cartier will be positioned in French Polynesia alongside the company’s Paul Gauguin.

Paul Gauguin has been operating year-round cruises from Tahiti for 25 years.

‘Ponant’s expansion in French Polynesia marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to delivering unparalleled expedition experiences,’ GM Sales and Marketing Asia Pacific Deb Corbett said.

Two distinct avenues

‘With the introduction of Le Jacques-Cartier alongside the enduring legacy of m/s Paul Gauguin, we’re unveiling two distinct avenues for travellers to delve into the rich tapestry of this breathtaking region,’ Corbett said.

The purpose-built Paul Gauguin, which was extensively refurbished in 2021, is renowned for its local singers and dancers who are true ambassadors of French Polynesia.

Both on board and ashore, they are keen to introduce passengers to the wealth and diversity of island cultures.

Blue Eye Lounge

Le Jacques-Cartier will offer travellers the opportunity to listen and observe the underwater world of French Polynesia’s lagoons from its multi-sensory Blue Eye Lounge.
