Port Everglades has installed 24/7 live cameras to allow traffic monitoring for truck drivers coming into the port.
The cameras observe the traffic flow on McIntosh Road, the main thoroughfare in the port’s Southport containerised cargo area.
Two different views are available, one looking north from the Crowley Administration Building showing entrances for the Crowley Terminal, Port Everglades Terminal and Florida International Terminal, and the second looking south from the McIntosh Road security checkpoint.
The Port Director previously disclosed that the port was considering grant opportunities for camera and gate appointment systems to provide a seamless container traffic experience.
Port Everglades Chief Executive and Port Director, Jonathan Daniels, said the new webcams will give truckers the ability to monitor traffic to detect the busiest times of the day and plan their journey accordingly.
With the aid of its three Super Post-Panamax gantry cranes and one Post-Panamax crane, Port Everglades broke its cargo handling records in January by processing a total of 4,849 containers – nearly 9,000 TEU.
