Confindustria’s proposal to the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority: “Molo Italia only for cruises, cargo traffic to Alto Fondale”
Livorno – Reorganize the port spaces of Livorno by clearly separating passenger traffic from cargo traffic. This is the proposal launched by Confindustria Toscana Centro e Costa to the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port System Authority.
During a meeting at the Palazzo degli Industriali with the extraordinary commissioner Davide Gariglio, the president Piero Neri suggested dedicating the Molo Italia exclusively to cruises, while transferring the cargo activities currently also partially located at the Molo Italia, such as the handling of forest products, to the Alto Fondale.
According to Neri, such a reorganization would produce several benefits: from greater stability for the bulk terminal, to an estimated saving of 35 million euros currently allocated for the dredging of the Calata Orlando.
Gariglio welcomed the idea without making immediate commitments: “We are not currently in a position to answer the question, but we are absolutely available for discussion”.
