The Port of Santos recorded its best cargo movement for September and also the record for the three-semester period of the year. Statistics from the Santos Port Authority (APS) recorded 16.5 million tons in the month and 138.7 million in the January-September period. Container movement was even more productive, recording increases of 6.6% for the month, marking over 515.7 thousand TEU, and also in the year-to-date, with a growth of 7.8% compared to 2024, reaching 4.37 million TEU.

“This new record at the Port of Santos, which is Brazil’s main logistics facility, only confirms the need to look to the future; that is why APS is working on expanding the Polygon, deepening the navigation channel, leasing Tecon 10, on the perimeter roads and the Santos-Guarujá tunnel, among other initiatives,” says the president of APS, Anderson Pomini.

With its characteristic as a multipurpose port, the Port of Santos breaks new records even while recording a drop in the movement of vegetable solid bulk. In September, the cargo with the highest movement were sugar (2.85 million tons), corn (2.61 million) and the soybean complex – grains and meal – (2.05 million).

Only soybeans grew compared to the same month of the previous year (81.6%). Sugar and corn recorded a drop (4.9 and 21%, respectively). The total increase compared to September 2024 was 3.7%.

Year-to-date, the increase was 0.9% compared to the first nine months of the previous year. The highest movement is from the soybean complex (an increase of 9.9% compared to 2024, totaling 38.82 million tons).

Followed by sugar (17.09 million, a drop of 17.8%), corn (7.6 million, a reduction of 14.5%) and fertilizer (5.62 million, a drop of 4.1%).
