Port Tarragona is carrying out a key project for its modernization, the construction of a new structure that allows the safe passage of installations over the Francolí river. This work has been carried out with the collaboration of the company Prefabricats Pujol, which supplied two large H165a-type concrete beams, to guarantee the protection and durability of the port infrastructures.

Both beams have a length of 40 meters and a weight of approximately 65 tons each. These pieces are part of a specific structure designed to channel and protect port services (pipelines, electrical systems, etc.) that cross the Francolí, especially against the risk of flash floods. Technically, the adopted solution combines these large-format concrete elements with modular metal structure.

The final part of the crossing is resolved with the two beams that allow spanning a 39-meter span of the bridge over the river, preventing the services from being exposed to water and facilitating maintenance work.

This project is part of a broader plan by Port Tarragona for the modernization and safety of its infrastructures and to reinforce its sustainability and operational efficiency.
